The mono (one channel) audiofile "kde_megaphone.wav" has just one layer. There is a selection at the end. The audiofile "birds.laoe" is a stereo clip with two layers. The first is painted green, the second is painted blue. The selections of this clip have variable intensity, the upper one has smooth borders and the lower one increases in an exponential manner. Have a look at the yellow segments inside the selection. These are editable by mouse. The layer-stack plugin allows to manipulate the layers, each layer is shown separately, move, merge, copy and delete them.
Only the selected part of the clip "fatima.wav" is analyzed below. The yellow spline curve has been created with the free-generator, but not yet applied anywhere. The spectrum of that selection was generated into the clip below "spectrum". The dotted lines in this spectrum view are measure cursors. Here the cursors snaps to the peaks. Several plugins are open right now. Some have numerical entries, where the unit is choosable by the user. The LAoE mainframe is visible in the center, some current used plugins can be started from here. But most of the plugins, functions and effects are accessible from the popup-menu inside the clips...
The top clip is zoomed in the sample-dimension (microseconds), the bottom clip in the millisecond-dimension. The selection of the top channel has variable intensity, the lower not. At the top-left you see the multi-notch-filter, at the bottom, from left to right, you see the amplify-plugin, resample-plugin and the undo-stack-plugin. The undo-stack shows the edit-steps in absolute manner. The user may click on the step he wants to go back. On the right you see the VU-meter while the clip hello.wav is playing.
This clip contains two layers, the original sound and a parameter curve which will be used for example as variable amplification parameter. The curve has been created using spline interpolation and 1st order interpolation. Now a part is edited (yellow) with the free-generator. At the bottom the layer-stack plugin and the channel-stack plugin are visible. The channel-stack helps to duplicate the parameter curve in channels.
This curious clip contains a number of transfer-functions of a filter, each with a different parameter setting. The horizontal axis represents the frequency, the vertical axis the ratio of output to input of the analyzed filter, in dB-scale. This is more a DSP-usage example than a pure audio example. It shows the math-capability of LAoE.
Spectrogram-view example: You see two clips, the one behind shows the original state of the clip "birds.wav" and the one in front shows the modified clip. The spectrogram-view is zoomed into a specific part of the clip. Remember! The horizontal axis represents time, the vertical axis represents the frequency and the color-intensity represents the magnitude at the given time and frequency. Now the spectrogram-filter allows to select rectangles or shapes with the help of a brush. The magnitude of these selection can be modified. You can observe changes between the modified and the original clip: some shapes at low frequencies have been removed, and others are selected at the right hand side.
Graphic documentation example: Since version v0.6.02 the clips may be documented by simple graphic drawings. Details about how the samples have been proceed and where problems remain may be documented. These drawings do not affect the audio information of the clip. The rulers of the channels have now printed numeric values.
